A stunning first for the school considering that it did not accept Black students 50 years ago.
“This win could never happen if Courtney sat idly and didn’t step out of her comfort zone. “It was undoubtedly a struggle, but it was worth it,” she said. “I did things that I thought I was too shy to do. I realized that I was a pretty good public speaker. And the most important thing I did was work hard.”
Marvelous. Just marvelous.
Ahhh so happy for her, she looks beautiful! I felt such immediate happiness as I read this, until that happiness turned into anger over the realization that this is just now happening for the first time in 2012. Like, really?
Regardless, that takes nothing away from this woman’s accomplishment, congratulations to Ms. Pearson!
